The Promise - When in Rome

If you need a friend, don't look to a stranger,
You know in the end, I'll always be there.
But when you're in doubt, and when you're in danger,
Take a look all around, and I'll be there.

I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say.
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be.
But if you'll wait around awhile, I'll make you fall for me,
I promise you, I promise you I will.

When your day is through, and so is your temper,
You know what to do, I'm gonna always be there.
Sometimes if I shout, it's not what's intended.
These words just come out, with no gripe to bear.

I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say.
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be.
But if you'll wait around awhile, I'll make you fall for me,
I promise you, I promise you...

I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say.
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be.
And if I had to walk the world, I'd make you fall for me,
I promise you, I promise you I will.

I gotta tell you, I gotta tell you, I need to tell you...

I will. I will.

That post changed my life.

Imma tell you a story.

The year was 1997. I was having a tough time with the ol' life, and I heard The Promise on the radio on some 80's night and FELL IN LOVE. I didn't know the name of the song, but I knew a few of the lyrics. So I went on a quest to find the cd. I bought the only When In Rome disc I could find, and hungrily threw it into my cd player. The thing is, it skipped The Promise the first time I played it, so I thought I'd bough the wrong disc. But upon PLAYING IT AGAIN, I heard those fantastic first few notes and knew I'd made a great purchase. And it changed my life, for real.

The point? I own a When In Rome cd and am, therefore, your new hero.

Thanksverymuch.
